What We’re All About
Stay Strong Stay Sober is a campaign targeting teens in the counties of Barren, Hart and Metcalfe Kentucky. It is part of the Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) coalition which aims to educate the community about drug and alcohol abuse. Stay Strong Stay Sober is focused on communicating the benefits of leading a sober lifestyle to teens while in school and after graduation.

It's not just us saying it! It's real science!

  • Making the choice to not drink can help you have clearer skin, fresher breath, and make it easier to maintain your current weight because “alcohol can cause acne breakouts, give you bad breath, and make you gain weight.”

  • Be part of the movement and spread the the word! Alcohol, cigarette, and illicit drug use is down among 8th, 10th, and 12th graders.

  • The memories you make in middle and high school will be some of the best of your life! Make sure you can remember them the next day and for years to come. When it comes to drinking, "teens are more likely to suffer blackouts, memory loss, and... cause damage to their ability to remember things in the future."

  • Alcohol can make you clumsy and slur your speech, make you feel sick, and make you throw up.

  • Avoid embarrassing tagged photos on social media by choosing not to drink or do drugs at parties. Alcohol makes you do things you wouldn’t normally do, and the pictures will never go away. Don’t let one choice haunt you forever.

Kentucky Medical Amnesty Law: If someone needs medical attention at a party, or anywhere where there is underage drinking taking place, those who call to report the medical emergency are protected under this law and will not get in trouble for their actions.
